Myanmar FAM Group On AirAsia Inaugural Yangon Penang Flight

Tourism Malaysia is organising a familiarisation trip to Malaysia for a group of media from Myanmar in conjunction with the inaugural Yangon-Penang connection by AirAsia. The programme is a collaborative effort with AirAsia and Penang Global Tourism.

The 17 media participants of the familiarisation trip arrived in Penang on 22 March aboard the AK1509 A320 carrier. The group from The Golden Land includes AirAsia Brand Ambassador, Myanmar Miss World 2015, Ms. Khin Yadanar Thein Myint, as well as television crew, journalists and bloggers. They are visiting the cultural, heritage, shopping and family attractions as well as hotel and medical facilities in Penang from 22 to 26 March.










A second familiarization trip will be organized for 12 Myanmar travel agents from 29 March to 2 April. They will be visiting major attractions in Penang and Ipoh, Perak.

Both groups are invited to Malaysia to help promote the destination’s varied culture, cuisine and family attractions to the people of Myanmar. The familiarisation programme will showcase Malaysia as an exciting and value-for-money destination as well as spark interest among the travel agents to develop attractive packages for the Myanmar market.

The Yangon-Penang AirAsia route flies three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Prior to this, Yangon is connected only to Kuala Lumpur via AirAsia (14 flights a week), Malaysia Airlines (14 flights) and Myanmar Air (4 flights). With this new development, air accessibility from Myanmar to Malaysia has increased to 35 flights a week offering 5,948 seats by AirAsia, Malaysia Airlines and Myanmar Air.


Last year, tourist arrivals from Myanmar to Malaysia registered a total of 66,553.

The contest was designed specifically to remunerate coffeeshop owners who have been NESTLÉ PROFESSIONAL®’s loyal customers over the years. With more than 7,000 outlets participating, there were more than RM 180,000 worth of exciting prizes up for grabs.

Three second prize winners were awarded a100g gold bar each, whereas five third prize winners grabbed a 50g gold bar each.

Other prizes presented included a smartphone each for the eight fourth prize winners; RM300 cash each for the 50 fifth prize winners, and a complete set of Limited Edition MILO® Mini Vans each for the 200 lucky winners.

The prize-giving ceremony was also graced by movers and shakers from the restaurant associations including Ho Su Mong, President of the Malaysia Singapore Coffee Shop Proprietors Association; and T. Muthusamy, President of Malaysian Indian Restaurants Owners Association (PRIMAS).

The event also unveiled two consumer activations by leading Nestlé beverage brands, the MILO® Breakfast Day during the months of April and May 2016, as well as the Nescafé football campaign which will kick off from May till July 2016, in conjunction with a significant European football championship.

GSC is Turning Blue to Help Spread Autism Awareness

April is Autism Awareness Month and Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) is turning blue to increase public awareness on autism. GSC’s online platforms will be blue and its social media pages will feature snippets about autism. On ground cinema staff will wear a blue button badge in support of autism awareness throughout the month. GSC will also be screening Redha, a touching story about a couple and their autistic son, by Tunku Mona Riza of Current Pictures. With every Redha ticket sold at GSC, RM1 will be donated to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (Nasom).

Autism is a condition that affects brain development causing difficulties in social interaction, verbal and non-verbal communication. It is more prevalent in boys than girls. Autism cuts across all racial, ethnic and social boundaries.

April is Autism Awareness Month and Golden Screen Cinemas Sdn Bhd (GSC) will turn blue in an effort to increase public awareness about this condition. GSC’s online platforms will be blue and its social media pages will feature snippets about autism. On ground cinema staff will wear a blue button badge in support of autism awareness throughout the month.

Greater awareness is very important, and is the first step towards acceptance and empathy for all individuals and their families who have to deal with the social stigma society has on autism.
On top of turning blue, GSC will be screening the upcoming local movie, Redha, which is a touching story about a couple and their autistic son. The movie is a work of love by director Tunku Mona Riza who wanted to highlight the plight of families and individuals with autism.







With every Redha ticket sold at GSC, RM1 will be donated to the National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM) to fund its activities. The movie Redha will see its premiere at GSC Pavilion on April 2 and will be playing nationwide from April 14.

Rayani Air Suspension, Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia Help To Give Discount

Rayani Air will be issued a provisional suspension notice on Monday by the Department of Civil Aviation (DCA), said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai. In his Twitter account Sunday, he said Rayani Air had contravened the conditions of its Air Operators Certificate (AOC), adding that a full administration and safety audit would be conducted on the airlines.  

“DCA will undertake a full administration & safety audit to determine if Rayani is ‘fit’ for AOC after serving provisional suspension,” he said.  

Liow also said he was disappointed with the airline’s poor procedures and service level despite being warned by the Transport Ministry and DCA.  Rayani Air is Malaysia’s first syariah-compliant airline.

As a result of this suspension, Air Rayani flight operations will be suspended for several months. RayaniAir ticket buyers, they apparently had to bear the loss of this suspension problem.

However, thanks to Malaysia Airlines and AirAsia thats appears to help and provide special promotion to all Rayani Air ticket buyers.

Malaysia Airlines Offers Travel Options to Rayani Air Passengers

Sepang, 11 April 2016 - From today, passengers holding Rayani Air tickets will be able to rebook their cancelled flights via Malaysia Airlines. The national carrier is offering to transfer stranded passengers at discounted fares following Rayani Air’s suspension.
Malaysia Airlines Chief Commercial Officer Paul Simmons said, “As the national carrier and as caring Malaysians, it is our duty to extend any assistance to ease the burden of impacted Rayani Air passengers. In this case, we are offering affected passengers a special fare to connect them to their intended destination. We hope this offer will help alleviate the passengers’ travel woes”
To take advantage of this special fare, affected passengers will need to present their email on proof of travel booking on Rayani Air. Passengers may call 1 300 88 3000 or visit any Malaysia Airlines ticket counters nationwide.
These fares are available today until 30 April 2016, for immediate travel until 31 July 2016.

Doogee Malaysia is holding its official launch event today to unveil a range of new series devices to the Malaysia market.

In 2002, Doogee started their business as one of the SAMSUNG & MOTO agent. Later on in 2005, they expanded their business in their domestic market and in the year 2007 Doogee became the first smartphone company to launch mobile phone with a big battery capacity.

SHELL Unveils Ultra Energy Efficient Concept Car

Shell has today (22 April 2016) unveiled a concept city car which, if it were ever to go into production, could deliver material reductions in energy use in the road transport sector. The three seater car is tangible proof of energy efficiency improvements that can be achieved by using cutting edge technology available today through a process of “co-engineering” whereby vehicle body, engine design and lubricants are all created together.

Independent testing and a rigorous life-cycle study shows that Shell’s Concept Car would deliver a 34% reduction in primary energy use over its entire lifecycle when compared to a typical city car available in the UK. The Shell Concept Car would use around half the energy required to build and run than a typical small family car available in the UK and 69% less than that of a typical sports utility vehicle available in the UK.

The Shell Concept Car is a total rethink of the Gordon Murray Design T.25 city car produced in 2010 for which Shell produced a prototype oil to improve the vehicle’s energy efficiency. The new car is the result of a co- engineering collaboration between world leading vehicle, engine and lubricant designers, with each of the three elements of the vehicle tailored to work optimally with each other. It takes a holistic view on energy reduction focusing on design material selection; reduced energy demand via aggressive downsizing, and streamlining while enhancing the efficiency of energy delivery through innovative engine design and lubricant formulation to minimise the impact in terms of overall energy lifecycle use.

The car’s gasoline consumption has been measured using a range of vehicle testing protocols covering both steady state and urban driving styles. Sample test results include a steady state consumption of 107 miles per gallon [2.64Litres per 100km] [38km/Litres] [89.1 miles per gallon US] at 70kmph/45mph and an improvement of 4.67g CO2/km on the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) from the use of bespoke lubricants, equivalent to a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency compared to standard lubricants available in the UK. 

Mark Gainsborough, Executive Vice-President of Shell’s global lubricants businesses which backed the project said, “This is a significant automobile engineering milestone. I’m very proud of what Shell’s scientists and their partners at Geo Technology and Gordon Murray Design have achieved. Insights gained from this project could be transformational in terms of how we address energy use in the road transport sector. Energy use and climate change are major issues for society. This project shows that if we use the best of today’s technology, including cutting edge lubricants science, we could potentially have a major impact on energy use and reduce COemissions."

"The improvement in economy derived from the collaborative design of engine and lubricant is impressive and highlights the enormous benefits achieved from close relationships between design partners. It also shows the powerful role that lubricants can potentially play in helping achieve COreduction targets.” 

The Shell Concept Car was independently tested at a UK certified automotive testing facility alongside a range of other cars under comparable conditions to measure fuel economy and COemissions. In the formal NEDC test the Shell Concept Car produced lower COemissions than both a typical petrol-powered city car (28%) and a hybrid car (32%).

Shell provided all the fluids for the car, specially ‘designing’ the motor oil to complement and enhance the overall efficiency of the vehicle, principally by minimising friction. Shell’s Lubricants technology team created bespoke engine oil, based on its premium product Shell Helix Ultra with PurePlus Technology. In parallel, engine guru Osamu Goto’s group at Geo Technology optimised the three cylinder petrol engine by re-designing and optimising many of the internal engine components associated with friction. On the cold portion of the NEDC, these fluids reduced COemissions by 7.1% and on the combined cycle by 5.0%, compared to standard lubricants available in the UK, again highlighting the value of co-designing engine and fluids.








Built around Gordon Murray Design’s patented iStream platform, the Shell Concept Car represents a radical rethink on the way in which cars are designed, developed and produced. It combines cutting-edge lightweight technology – the car weighs just 550kg – and is built using carefully chosen materials which have a low energy and COfootprint. Gordon Murray’s experiences in Formula OneTM racing have been used to develop the car, particularly its crashworthiness and lightness. 

A number of the car’s components were created using 3D printing to accelerate the construction of this prototype vehicle. The car also uses recycled carbon fibre for its body that can be assembled for a quarter of the price of a conventional steel car and almost the entire car can be recycled at the end of its life. The car makes use of a modified version of Shell’s Drive App via a smartphone. This App provides the driver with real time feedback via an on-screen graphic which emphasizes the fact that fuel consumption is highly dependent on driver’s behaviour.

From a styling perspective, the Shell Concept Car offers a new take on the ‘tall and narrow’ look, and dials up the fun factor with its sporty central driving position and two passenger seats behind. The design produces an extremely novel seating arrangement allowing three people to be carried despite the car’s diminutive exterior dimensions and gives it a turning circle smaller than that of a London taxi, making it ideal for urban driving.

Dr. Andrew Hepher, Vice President, of Shell’s lubricant research team said: “Our car may be small, but it’s packed with potential. We want to accelerate the conversation about how we make road vehicles more energy efficient and less carbon-intensive. In the coming weeks and months, we look forward to sharing our research insights from this project with engine designers, car manufacturers, academics and other experts across the automotive sector.”

KK punyai segala-galanya yang orang lain impikan dalam dunia ini. Pangkat, harta, wang ringgit juga segala kemewahan dunia tetapi hanya satu kekurangan bagi dirinya iaitu cinta.
Percintaan yang terjalin indah selama beberapa tahun teruji tatkala KK dan Irika sepakat untuk membawa hubungan mereka ke jinjang pelamin. KK terkejut dengan permintaan Irika untuk melangsungkan perkahwinan mereka di sebuah pulau terpencil. Permintaan khas ini sekaligus membuka rahsia yang selama ini disimpan rapi daripada pengetahuan KK yang mana ibu bapa Irika telah bercerai sejak Irika masih kecil lagi dan bapa kandung Irika, Pak Mustafa (lakonan Shahronizam) menetap di pulau berkenaan selepas dari penceraiannya dengan ibu Irika (lakonan Zarina Zainuddin). KK berdepan dengan masalah untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan bapa Irika yang dilihat sebagai seorang yang sangat tegas serta kehidupan kampung di pulau yang begitu berlawanan dengan gaya hidup mewahnya. Dalam pada itu, Irika dilihat makin tersepit antara masa depannya bersama KK dengan hubungan antara anak dan ayah bersama bapanya. 

Menariknya lagi, filem terbitan Adriana Jasmay yang berdurasi selama 90 minit ini bukanlah kisah percintaan semata-mata tetapi turut mengetengahkan nilai kekeluargaan, kasih sayang, ketulusan hati dan sifat saling memahami dan memaafi sesama insan. Selain itu, sinematografi indah Pulau Langkawi dan Pulau Tuba yang dipaparkan memperlihatkan proses rakaman dan penyuntingan setiap babak terutamanya daripada sudut pencahayaan dan komposisi gambar dilakukan dengan teliti bagi menghasilkan pemandangan latar belakang yang mengasyikkan dan mempersonakan 

Dato’ Khairul kemudiannya menambah,“Sejujurnya, saya merasakan Angin Cinta merupakan sebuah karya cinta romantik komedi yang indah. Jalan ceritanya yang tersusun rapi berjaya menghasilkan garapan emosi yang cukup sempurna. Pujian harus diberikan kepada Zizan Razak dan Ummi Nazeera selaku tonggak utama kerana keserasian mereka berdua berjaya membuat penonton terus masuk ke dalam plot cerita.
Filem ini juga berbeza dengan filem-filem yang terdiri dari genre yang sama. Jika dilihat akan lambakan filem romantik komedi yang ada di pasaran, rata-ratanya ia berkisar mengenai sebuah perkahwinan kontrak ataupun perkahwinan yang diatur pihak keluarga. Bermula 11 April lalu dan berakhir pada harini, JoHaRa telah mencatatkan sebuah sejarah segmen tersebut dengan menganjurkan sebuah pertandingan luar biasa. Pengemudi rancangan pagi JoHaRa Pagi ERA (Johan, Haniff dan Ray) telah bersiaran secara langsung di lokasi terpilih bagi meneruskan misi pencarian ‘Juara JoHaRa’ selama tiga minggu.

Seawal jam 6 pagi lagi, peminat telah berkumpul dilokasi terpilih untuk membuat pendaftaran sebagai peserta Juara JoHaRa. Semangat yang di pamerkan oleh masyarakat Malaysia untuk menceburkan diri dalam aksi cabaran sangat dipuji. Tidak mengira bangsa mahupun peringkat umur, mereka yang hadir untuk merebut gelaran Juara JoHaRa ternyata sangat ‘sporting’. Pengunjung yang ada di sekitar lokasi juga turut memberikan sokongan kepada perserta-peserta yang terlibat. Para selebriti yang ada pada setiap lokasi pilihan turut menggamatkan lagi suasana apabila mereka juga mecabar diri.

Pencarian ‘Juara JoHaRa’ telah berjaya mengupas bakat-bakat masyarakat Malaysia untuk melakukan beberapa cabaran lucu yang telah diberikan. Contoh cabaran-cabaran yang bakal dilakukan adalah seperti mencabar orang ramai untuk membungkus nasi lemak dengan memakai sarung tangan gusti, meniup lilin sambil memakai topeng muka dan macam-macam lagi cabaran lucu yang telah diadakan.

“Pertandingan Juara JoHaRa telah dilaksanakan selama tiga minggu bermula 11 April hingga 29 April. Objektif kami adalah untuk mencungkil bakat yang ada dikalangan pedengar sambil beramah mesra bersama mereka. Kami teruja kerana sambutan Juara JoHaRa yang julung kali diadakan ini sangat meriah. The 18th edition of the 2016 Formula1 Malaysia Grand Prixwill have an added excitement for local fans, as two young, up-and-coming Malaysian drivers will be part of the showpiece. Nabil Jeffri and Akash Neil Nandy will be participating in the GP2 and GP3 series respectively. This follows the agreement of the Formula One Management (FOM) to hold the prestigious GP2 and GP3 during the F1 race weekend in Malaysia.

Nabil and Akash were introduced as drivers representing Malaysia, racing a full season in their respective teams, Arden International in GP2 and Jenzer Motorsport in GP3. Both series commence on 13 May 2016 in Barcelona, Spain with 11 rounds and 9 rounds for the GP2 and GP3 respectively. The penultimate round takes place at the Malaysian F1 at Sepang International Circuit (SIC) on 2 October 2016. The event was officiated yesterday by the Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia Khairy Jamaluddin, accompanied by Tan Sri Mokhzani Mahathir, Chairman of SIC and Dato’ Razlan Razali, Chief Executive Officer of SIC.

Dato’ Razlan expressed his delight at having not one but two Malaysian drivers in the GP2 and GP3 series. “Having Malaysian drivers competing during the 2016 Formula1 Malaysia Grand Prix in Sepang is undoubtedly something that the local fans have been yearning for. Both GP2 and GP3 are talent development series for drivers aspiring to achieve the coveted F1 driver position. Ardent fans of F1 in Malaysia will now be able to follow not just the F1 but also the GP2 and GP3 through the 2016 race calendar that will take our Malaysian boys through a thrilling season,” he said.

Dato’ Razlan said SIC had been pushing for the inclusion of GP2 and GP3 in the Formula 1 in Malaysia since the GP2 Asia last raced in 2013 at the circuit. “We are pleased that the F1 is emulating MotoGP with the inclusion of the GP2 and GP3 as support races. This is what we, as the organiser and promoter of the Malaysian F1, have been asking for to make it more exciting for local fans, especially with the participation of young Malaysian talent this year. Furthermore, the GP2 and GP3 traditionally provided superb wheel-to-wheel excitement, thrilling fans every time in past seasons”, he added. 

Nabil, 22, began his racing career at Asia Max Challenge (Rotax) back in 2008 and 2009, where he became the Overall Champion. He finished a credible 6th place in the Rotax Max Grand Finals 2009 in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt out of 72 drivers from 60 countries. He continued racing in the JK Racing Asia Series in 2012 and at the ATS Formel 3 Cup in 2014, both of which he finished 2nd overall.  

In 2010, Nabil was the youngest ever driver to test a Formula One car. At 16, Nabil conducted straight-line aerodynamic duties for the Malaysian-owned Lotus team at the Imperial War Museum runway at Duxford (UK). 

Following a successful testing programme in Barcelona and Jerez last month, British team Arden International confirmed that Nabil Jeffri and Jimmy Eriksson have signed for the 2016 Season. Nabil moves from Germany and European F3 where he has spent the last few years honing his skills and experience around the European tracks. The Malaysian is also no stranger to the Sepang International Circuit, where the GP2 Series will be racing later this year alongside Formula One. 

“This has been my lifelong dream and I am living it out in front of my fellow Malaysians – that is an adrenaline rush like no other. The Sepang Circuit is one many drivers find challenging, so I hope my experience on this track will help my performance, and I will do Malaysia proud.  I hope Malaysians will come out to the circuit on race weekend and support both Akash and myself,” said Nabil.

Racing for Swiss-based team Jenzer Motorsport in GP3 this year, Akash Neil Nandy, 19, is a rising Malaysian star in his own right. He was recently awarded the McMillan Woods Rising Star Award 2016, in the Chequered Flag of the Year category.

He began his career in 2010, kart racing at the Rotax Max Challenge Malaysia, finishing a respectable 2nd place.  But his breakout race was when he finished a respectable 3rd place in the overall championship of the Formula Masters China Series in 2013. The wins kept on coming, as he almost won the Formula 3 Remus Championship in Europe, winning 10 out of 12 races. 

In 2013, at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix event, Akash - one of the youngest drivers that year, made motorsports history that same year after grabbing pole position, setting the fastest lap and winning in Formula Masters, when the highly respected season ended.

Akash’s extraordinary talent won him an invitation to participate in the prestigious opening round of the Asia Le Mans Series with KC Motorgroup in 2013. Being the youngest driver to participate in a Le Mans Series, he walked into the history books of the event and Le Mans overall. Having qualified to start the race from P2, Akash steamed the team into P1 while closing his stint of the race, having set one of the fastest lap times and maintaining the position to finish as race winners. This year, Akash did his team proud by emerging overall champion in 1st place yet again in the GTM class on home ground.

He stands amongst the likes of former F1 world champions Ayrton Senna and Michael Schumacher who were once overall championship winners. Apart from his dedication and passion for racing, Akash is also a full-time law student and is currently close to completing his first year.

“I am honoured to be part of our national racing agenda and that my love for racing will be an inspiration for all young Malaysians to strive tirelessly to achieve their dreams and goals. I am always determined to give my very best every time I am on the track and hope that I will make Malaysia proud in the upcoming race,” shared Akash.
“It is exciting times for motorsports in Malaysia, as the young sportsmen who have worked their way up the ranks of talent development series start to flourish and make their names known in the senior levels,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports Khairy Jamaluddin. “I am calling out to private sector companies to come forward and look at the viability of sponsoring our local drivers,” he urged. “Motorsports in particular is an expensive endeavour but returns for sponsors are exponential,” he said. 

The 2016 Formula 1 Malaysia Grand Prix takes place from 30 September until 2 October 2016, at Sepang International Circuit with GP2 and GP3 being the support races for the event. Early Bird promotional ticket prices are still available until 31 May 2016.

Offered at an attractive recommended retail price of RM2,699 (inclusive of 6% GST), the device is available in three colour options – Black Onyx, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium.
